Ive found 4 stores here in Michigan selling them, and the price range is 275 on the low side, all the way up to 425 on the high side. The one at 425 was in excellent shape, 275 was pretty dinged and scratched, and there were 2 more going for 350 that looked like they were in decent shape. All these guitars except the one selling for 275 came with a hardshell case.
Ive seen the amp going anywhere from 149 all the way up to 200, and that one was in near perfect shape. Those are nice amps by the way, and it should last him a long time.
And yes... this is very good equipment for a beginner. The necks on these guitars are very easy to play, and it is a very good quality guitar.
