well i dont believe that it will smudge if u let it dry, but if you use the guitar alot i do believe that the writing would come off over time due to the constant scratching of the pick on the guard. i wouldnt recommend it. but you could always re write over the marks that are coming off from the pick. smudgeing is your least worry with a perminant marker its just it will probally scratch off.
