Ah yes... this is definitely "Voice of the Soul" on the album The Sound of Perseverance. This is quite possibly one of my favorite instrumentals. I even came across a few high school students on Youtube playing this song for some school music thing. They did a pretty good job.
And it is quite the shame that you missed out on The Sound of Perseverance. I didn't think it possible, but in my opinion, Death got better with age. Not many bands can pull something off like that. TSoP was an amazing last album and definitely my favorite. I have Death's entire discography and love every song. However, TSoP is in an entirely different league. The production, riffs, vocals, guitar work.. EVERYTHING is pretty much perfect. Death could not have gone out on a better note. Chuck was a truly exceptional musician and his death dealt a huge blow to the death metal world.
